Happy New Year, to all!

 

As you know, the Rev Lim Choonshik is visiting Auckland. He will have been in Australia and is coming over to Auckland on Jan 13. 

 

I know that many of you are not available. However, this  email hopefully serves as information.

 

Choonshik is responsible the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s relationships with North and South Korea. He has been to North Korea many times and has lots of insights.

 

The meeting as planned is an opportunity for anyone interested to find out more about the Churches response to the tensions on the peninsula.

 

It is of course a private visit and Choonshik understands both that and that this is a very awkward time of year, as so many are on holiday.

 

The National Dialogue on Christian Unity has requested to meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters. This could be seen as a useful preparation for that meeting.

 

North Korea is of course a danger point in the world, and the Churches actually have a lot of insightful things to say. Mr Peters on TV this evening suggested that he would be prepared to visit the DPRK if invited.

 

Parking on Vincent St is normally bad, but on Saturday at this time of year, there is on street parking and at the Greys Ave car park
